Beekeeping can help to alleviate poverty and to improve the livelihood of many families.
But skilled people are needed to implement the appropriate knowledge.
Since 6 years the laboratory of Zoophysiology of the Ghent University organizes the International Training Programme ‘Beekeeping for Poverty Alleviation’ with the support of the Belgium Government and VLIR-UOS.
From April till July 2012 we have again the honor to invite 10 candidates to come to Belgium and follow a four-month intensive training course that addresses all aspects involved in developing beekeeping into a powerful factor of rural development. This is a great opportunity for Ministries, Universities and local NGOs to have valuable employees trained in the art of Beekeeping, with all the related expenses covered by the scholarship.
Only residents and nationals of a selected group of countries are eligible for this VLIR-UOS scholarship and new countries are added to the list this year. In the past years we had none or only a few candidates from the countries below and therefore we would like to ask you, dear Sir/Madam, if you could help to find valuable candidates for this course by spreading the added leaflet.
Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, DR Congo, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Tunisia, Zambia, Zimbabwe
Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Jordan, Laos, Nepal, Palestinian Territories, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam
Latin America: Bolivia, Brasil, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay
We aim at candidates that are holders of a bachelor’s degree with experience in beekeeping that wish to implement beekeeping for rural development purposes. Good written and spoken command in English is necessary.
More information, the admission requirements and the application procedure can be found at www.beekeeping.ugent.be or www.scholarships.vliruos.be.
If you have any question, please contact me at itpbeekeeping@Ugent.be
We wish to thank you for your help,
Yours faithfully,
Inge Roman
